4 Steps to Take Ownership of Your Success
1. Prioritize self-care
You can’t pour from an empty cup. Self-care is not the same as self-indulgent. Self-care is self-preservation and helps you prepare for stress which will bring balance to all areas of your life.
2. Embrace a Growth Mindset
When you choose to be successful, you will begin to notice the limiting thought patterns in your mind. Rather than seeing roadblocks, spend more time seeing opportunities. Then, celebrate the progress of each step. Celebrate each win.
3. Think Strategic & Connect to a Bigger Cause
Steve Jobs said: “If you are working on something exciting that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.” He's right. When we think strategically and connect to something bigger than we are, we lead by example, we collaborate with our colleagues, and we become the team member we hope others will be.
4. Become Self-Aware
When was the last time you give yourself a performance review? Consider an honest self-reflection on your responsibilities, your impact on others or the organization, the opportunities you might be ignoring. Opportunities happen when we engage with others who can open doors. Solicite feedback from colleagues, mentors, and friends to help you step into the success you are creating.
